Product reviews for sensitvite skin

Hey Y'all!

Okay, so I have to say, it has been quite a while since I've done a blog post (42 weeks to be exact) so I thought it was time to write a new one! First of all, major kudos to anyone who can consistently keep up with a blog. My dog chewed up my laptop charger chord and it took me quite a long while before I finally bought another one, hence my long hiatus on this blog. I finally got another charger, I'm back up and running, and hopefully going to stick with this!

Now, today what I want to do is actually some product reviews. When it comes to face and skin products, I very rarely delve into new products because I have extremely sensitive skin and it can be very tricky to know what's going to irritate my skin and what's going to rejuvenate it.  I have nine items I'm going to give you my thoughts on, mostly good, and hopefully someone else with sensitive skin can benefit from this! Also, if you've tried some good products that help you with your sensitive skin, PLEASE let me know! Also, all of the photos I'm posting for this post are stock photos from the actual websites, and I will be posting the direct website links if you would like to purchase something!

Okay, so I'm actually going to start with my new absolute favorite item, Au Lait cream body wash by The Scottish Fine Soaps Company.

The first time I saw this soap was actually a couple of months ago in an issue of Allure magazine. They did a really neat article where they talked to women from all around the world on what their favorite soap is and this particular soap came up twice. I remembered that I had seen this brand  at tj maxx so I thought I would try it! It took a couple of weeks for them to actually have this brand again but I finally got a hold of some and all they had was the cream body wash. Let me tell you, I can not say enough good things about this soap. My skin has never felt so soft after a shower in my entire life. This soap contains aloe vera and organic milk to make this soap so heavenly. One thing I adore about this body wash is that it does not have a strong perfume smell, which is nice because it really makes this a unisex soap; it's a very light and fresh scent. As long as I can find this soap, I will buy it and I will absolutely not use anything else. Like I said earlier, I did purchase this at tj maxx for $4.99 (heck yes), but you can also purchase this at scottishfinesoaps.com where you can check out their entire collection. They do ship to the United States and you can find their shipping rates on the website under their FAQ tab. Seriously guys, try this soap!

The next item up for review is NYX Cosmetics Honey Dew Me Up Primer!
This is my second favorite new product that I've tried! This item is considered a primer but I would call it more of a serum. I was very nervous about trying this because my cheeks are the most sensitive part on my body, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this because it actually helped me. When my cheeks get irritated they get very inflamed and red which is why I normally wear very thick foundation to cover that up. When I prime my face first with this serum, it really helps control my redness through out the day and allows me to wear lighter foundation without being self conscious. It did take about a week before I was able to notice a difference, but I'm really glad that I kept using it and waiting it out. It does come in a very small bottle, but a little goes a long way. It does have gold flakes in it that is supposed to give you a "luminous look" through out the day, but they really didn't do that. Once you apply your foundation and other face products, no one can tell that you used a primer with gold flakes. I'm not complaining though because it makes the product look really neat and it doesn't irritate my face!  I would not recommend this product unless you have sensitive skin or if you have dry skin because it is a little sticky and will dry out your face a tad. I bought this for $17.00 on nyxcosmetics.com and it was well worth the money.
The next item is another NYX Cosmetics item that I was not very impressed with. This item is the Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in the shade Pale Pink Pearl.

This product is advertised to give a "refreshed glow and beautiful highlight", but I really didn't think that it achieved it's purpose. Honestly, when I put this on my face, it kind of just disappeared. I did get the lightest shade they had because I'm a very pale person, but I do have other highlighters that actually make themselves noticeable on my face. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful liquid highlighter when I first put it on my fingers, but once it was applied to my cheeks, it just did not deliver. This product may very well work for someone else, and maybe it would work better for me if I was to purchase a different shade, but as of right now, I will not be purchasing this product again. If you would like to give this one a go, you can purchase this on nyxcosmetics.com for $7.50.

Let's get back to a positive review! This next item is lovely! Its a lavender lullaby bath bomb from ME! bath collections.
I really really enjoyed these bath bombs. I'm a huge fan of Epsom salt baths, but after a while, they got a little boring. One day I looked on pinterest and noticed that people would put essential oils in their baths along with the Epsom salt and I thought wow, what a great idea! It turned out to be a terrible idea. One of my baths I tried 3 drops of tea tree essential oil and another bath I tried two drops of lavender oil. Both times I tried essential oils in my baths, it completely burned my skin and I felt like I was on fire. Looking for something else I could try, I stumbled upon these bath bombs at Walgreens! I paid $10.00 for a bag that comes with eight bath bombs and was so pleasantly surprised! These bombs did not irritate my skin at all, and I was actually able to put two in at a time! I think they worked so well because they don't seem to have a lot of dye as they didn't turn my water purple and they are not heavily fragrant. They did have two other scents at Walgreens which were Hawaiian Lei and Pomegranate and I would definitely be up for trying those! ME! bath also makes other scents which you can find on their website at mebath.com

Let's do two products in one! These next products are the SIMPLE brand moisturizing face wash and SIMPLE brand cleansing face wipes!
I am in love with both of these items! The simple brand is specifically for sensitive skin but I was still a little skeptical. I have tried other products that said they were for sensitive skin such as Neutrogena and First Aid Beauty and they still burned my face; this product however is perfect. The face wash is so soft and does not contain any perfume and leaves my face feeling extremely clean. The face wipes also leave my skin feeling clean and refreshed. Another great thing about the face wipes is that they are so great at removing all of my makeup, even water proof makeup! Even if you don't have sensitive skin, I would highly recommend these products because they're such a great value for the money. Both of these items cost about $6 each and you can find them at grocery stores, drug stores or at simpleskincare.com. Oh, and guess what? This brand has received Allure beauty awards!

Now, let's talk about a couple of skin care products that absolutely did not work for me. The first item is E.L.F. brand daily hydration moisturizer

Okay, so, I was extremely disappointed with this moisturizer. Completely unrelated to the actual skin care aspect of this product, after two tries of using this, the pump broke and I had to twist off the cap and squeeze the moisturizer out to keep using it. Not only did the pump break, but the moisturizer burnt my face pretty badly. I tried it more than once to see if maybe my face would get used to it ( I don't think that actually happens) and it never did. I really wanted this to work because I love e.l.f. makeup and I didn't want to give up on this so easily. Not only would I not recommend this to people with sensitive skin, but I would not recommend this to anyone because I don't think it serves it's purpose simply as a moisturizer. I noticed that after I put it on, about five minutes later, my face felt extremely dry. Isn't the purpose of a moisturizer to, um, moisturize? Maybe it's just me and my weird face but I will absolutely not buy this product again. If you would like to give this one a go you can pick it up at walmart on elfcosmetics.com for $8.00 a bottle. This item did win an allure beauty award so maybe you would have more luck with it!

This next item that I didn't like is another E.L.F. item :( It's their e.l.f. nourishing night cream.

This item also burned my face. I honestly bought this because I thought that the packaging was pretty and I didn't currently have a night cream (and never used one lol). This night cream actually burned my face more so than the moisturizer. As soon as this touched my face it set me on fire and I immediately took it off and never tried it again. I'm really sad about this because it seemed like it would be a really nice cream. It smells very nice and it's very soft to the touch, but it's really just not a good product if you have sensitive skin. I've only used this product once and haven't thrown it out, so if you would like to try this before you buy, please contact me and I will be more than happy to give this to you! I also have the e.l.f. face moisturizer if you would like to try that as well! If you would like to go ahead and try this cream you can purchase this one at walmart or elfcosmetics.com for $10.00 a jar.

Okay, so I have one final item to go over. This is actually a makeup item but it's so wonderful that I have to tell you guys about this! It's Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation.

This is one of their new foundations and I got a sample of it in my last sephora order. This foundation is heavenly. I did get the wrong color because they were only sending out samples in four shades but oh my gosh, I plan on ordering a full size in my correct shade as soon as possible. At first it seems like it's going to be very thick but it actually goes on pretty light and it's SO SOFT. I've never felt a foundation like this before and I just want to wear it all the time. I really think that this foundation could knock the other brands out of the park. I normally wear the Kat Von D foundation but I am seriously considering switching to this brand instead. If you can get the chance to sample or try this please do! I promise you will fall in love with it just as much a I have! You can purchase this for $40.00 a tube on sephora.com or urbandecay.com

Well that's it! Thank you guys so much for reading these product reviews, and I really hope that this can help someone else who is having trouble finding products that react well with their skin! If you guys have any suggestions on products for me to try, please let me know!

Until next time, have a good night y'all!

May/June Product Reviews 2017

Hey Y'all! Lord, I'm so behind. Okay, so these are going to be my monthly product reviews from the last two months, so this one is...
